COURSE PREFACE

The introduction to the Fiber Network course is taught in a live environment visiting and showing actual Fiber runs from Central Office to Central Office, Central Office to Remote Terminal and fiber deployment to the curb, house and business.

Actual installation and maintenance applications are fully illustrated. Examples of the most common deployment and maintenance problems are addressed along with resolutions and preventative methods that may be used.

While many basic information courses offer a lot of information and picture illustrations through PC or slides we do not. We take our students out to the actual sites with hands on exposure. No classroom coverage with this course!

OVERALL COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course the trainee will understand the following:

• Applications of fiber as inter-office feeder, fiber rings
• Feeder and distribution routes
• Hardware, multiplexers, handholes, splices, regenerators, shielding, DB loss, color coding, record keeping, plat reading, splice locations, OTDR, fusion splices.
• Installation placement problems and resolutions, maintenance upkeep problems and resolutions
