COURSE OVERVIEW  

This course will teach technicians how to correctly build a splice and install the correct closure. The training includes aerial and buried applications including aerial and buried terminal.

Special emphasis is placed on installing bonds, single pair splicing, splicing with 25 pair modules using both the splicing machine, 5 pair-at-a-time tool and 1 pair-at-a-time tool. Students are trained to correctly handle the wirework to prevent splits, pair transpositions and other conductor damage during the splicing operation. The training is conducted primarily in outside plant, on cut cables, new construction jobs and needed rehabilitation work, thus allowing the student to learn in an actual cable environment. versus simulated environments.
