BASIC TDR
(BTDR 204)

COURSE PREFACE

The Basic TDR course is intended to train the field technician in order to gain maximum utilization of equipment.

This course is taught in a live (real world ) environment. Students actually trace live cable conditions that will illustrate a variety of positive and negative reflections.

Technicians are taught to interpret both working and non working cable pairs, water, load coils, opens, high resistance opens, split and re-split pairs, unbalanced lines, laterals, stubs, terminal tails, gauge change locations, air core to jelly splices, jelly to air core splices, straight splices, butt splices, wet splices and others.

Also the student learns to interpret signatures that may indicate shorts, grounds, battery and side crosses thus eliminating the need for a breakdown or resistive bridge strap.

These applications will frequently increase restoration times and production.
