COURSE PREFACE

The Basic Plat Reading course is designed to introduce those employees who may have the need to read, interpret and understand cable route maps.

This course is taught in a live environment using actual plant conditions including underground cables, air pipes, buried/aerial feeder and distribution facilities both aerial and buried.

Fiber is illustrated for accurate identification.
 

OVERALL COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course the trainee will be able to understand and interpret the following:

• Cable directions including size, counts, types, gauges, splices, last work activity and placement dates
• Air pipes and air pressure routes
• Poles anchors, closures types
• Pinpoint cable fault locations
• Types and numbers of fibers
