BASIC FAULT LOCATE
(BFL 102)

COURSE PREFACE

The Basic Fault Locate 102 course is an advanced technical training module designed and developed to offer basic fault locating skills with the multi-functional test equipment.

Students are trained with the skill to detect and resolve resistive faults found in ready access closures, service drops, station wiring and jacks, also to measure distances on open conductors.

Technicians learn how to detect faults with poor transmission parameters with loop current, frequency loss, circuit noise, power-influence, balance and stress testing. The course is taught in a live environment on actual field problems thus removing all simulated conditions. This process of real world applications will enhance and build greater student confidence and retention.

OVERALL COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course the trainee will be able to:

Identify transmission related faults measuring loop current, frequency loss and slope, circuit noise, power influence and stressed and non-stressed balance.
